26° Brewing Hosts 5-course Beer Pairing Dinner

26 Degree Brewing Co. has been growing by leaps and bounds over the past couple of months. It opened in September and soon began local distribution through Gold Coast Beverage.

Now it’ll be adding culinary adventurers to that list.

On Wednesday, March 23, the Pompano Beach brewery will host a five-course beer-paired dinner in its taproom.

The menu is being created by Darrell Langworthy, executive chef and general manager of the White Elephant in Wellington. He has previously hosted beer-centered events across both counties, including a Sam Adams Utopias event and a Due South Brewing Co. dinner. It puts him in the well-trusted company of chefs who are starting to see the flavor range that beer can provide.

This dinner is also an educational avenue to learn about these flavors and how they interact with food and to get intimately schooled on the broad range of beers available at the brewery. Indeed, as part of the dessert course, attendees will be sampling the brewery’s Ziko’s Rage Imperial Stout, which received a Silver Medal in the Best Florida Beer Championship last week.

Prepare to drool over the menu.

Course #1:
-Creamy potato soup with some crispy fried pork belly, paired with Baseline Pale Ale.

Course #2:
-Shredded slow-smoked pork shoulder, tossed with apples and served with mashed sweet potatoes, paired with Scotchness Monster Scotch Ale.

Course #3:
-“Bangkok” gulf shrimp, marinated in lime, cilantro, and green chilies, grilled and topped with a Thai peanut sauce over fragrant jasmine rice, paired with IPA1A American IPA.

Course #4:
-Fresh Maryland-style crab cake with broccoli slaw and an orange marmalade aioli, paired with ‘Tis the Saison French saison.

Course #5:
-Blackberry parfait with layers of fresh blackberries and light chocolate mousse, finished with a vanilla cream syrup, paired with Ziko’s Rage Imperial Stout.

26 Degree Brewing Co. is located at 2600 E. Atlantic Blvd. in Pompano Beach. The pairing dinner begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $65 at eventbrite.com.
